Puff pastry flower cake with poppy


Ingredients for the stuffing:

100g poppy seeds

100g sugar

2 egg whites

1 egg to spread

How to prepare the puff pastry flower cake with poppy:

1. First we heat the oven to 180ºC and prepare the puff pastry sheets.

2. We put a sheet on the well floured table and stretch it a little with the rolling pin. Place a plate on top and cut around. We separate the leftovers from the dough, which we will be able to use to make croissants for example. We put the round sheet on a baking paper. We do the same with the other sheet of puff pastry. We separate the two round sheets, while we prepare the filling.

3. Beat the egg whites until stiff. When they are firm, add the sugar little by little.

4. Once we have incorporated the sugar, we remove the blender and add the ground poppy seeds. We incorporate them with a spatula.

5. We place the first round sheet in the tray on a baking paper.

6. Put the poppy filling in the middle and stretch it from the center towards the edges, leaving a space of one centimeter on the edges.

7. Place the second sheet on top and close the edges with a fork. They could also stay open, but we have to keep in mind that the puff pastry rises a lot and the filling may come out.

8. In the center we place a glass and we begin to cut from the glass to the edges, first into four parts and then to each part we make three more cuts.

9. We turn each petal. Then we remove the glass.

10. We beat an egg and spread the petals and the center of the flower. In the optional center, you can sprinkle some poppy seeds.

11. We put in the oven and bake at 180ºC for 20 – 25 minutes.
